Molestation and sex trafficking are far more common than people realize. A friend of mine is working with an organization that works with priests to halt the molestation from that arina. It’s hard to know how it’s working, but they’re making the attempt.
Yes, Pris, it's pervasive and for the most parts get swept under the rug. Love the haiku. It kind of what's the whole thing up un a poignant nutshell. :<(
My humble thanks, Ian. I wish I could nail a copy of this to every door in America. Let no one question my mood. I'm in a fighting mood. I'm sure there's more where this came from. I very much appreciate your blessing.
Even if the government and media outlets are complicit in the coverup, the open letter might give other victims a sense that they’re being seen and heard when no one else will listen to them. That’s important in itself! Especially at a time like this when victims and the crimes against them are being erased. ❤️🔥
I agree. I've starting search for some agencies or group that might be receptive to it here locally. An in-person meeting would be the best I think. Thinking of getting more active in this area if the opportunity arises.
That's really good of you. It helps to talk to someone who's been through it and healed to some extent...especially since you're both a visual and literary artist. Some traumatized parts have no way of verbally communicating what they want to communicate, but they might be able to do so visually. RAINN has a lot of good resources: https://volopps.rainn.org/volunteer_search
I tend to shy away from religious organizations because some might exploit the power dynamic, but RAINN has been around for a while and is pretty well known so I kind of trust who they recommend (and if their partner organizations do something fishy, they can address the issue).
Thank you very much for that information, Jackie, and those inspiring thoughts.
Now that you mention it, I do have an even larger story to tell where art and healing are concerned. My wheels are starting to click.
So, far I've found two local orgs (haven't reached a person yet). rainn.org looks pretty comprehensive. I'll definitely be digging deeper into that very soon.
Point taken on religious orgs. There are those with their heart in the right place and proficient in what they're doing. Then, there is definitely the flip side.
